STAR offers violence prevention programs to schools and organizations
free of charge. Our trained Prevention Educators are available to assist
you in helping make your business, agency, or program violence-free. If

PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH Careageous Kids is designed specifically for 4th and 5th graders in Louisiana, and focuses on teaching positive social skills that will help reduce their likelihood of committing violent acts. T.R.U.S.T.: Teaching Respect, Understanding, Safety, and Tolerance equips 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with the tools necessary to confront social issues. The skills taught in this curriculum will educate students on how to lead meaningful relationships as young, healthy, and responsible adults. Safe Dates is targeted at high school students who are either currently in dating situations or who will soon be dating. These sessions will equip students with the tools necessary for healthy relationships, as well as teach them how to prevent abusive situations and help friends who may be in need. | PREVENTION PROGRAMS
FOR PROFESSIONALS Gender Violence 101 (8 hours) Whether you or a loved one is a survivor of violence, or you work with clients who have been victimized, gender violence impacts everyone in our community. This one-day training teaches professionals about risk and protective factors, warning signs, prevention strategies, and policy changes that can help make your workplace, school, or organization violence-free. Steps to Protect (3 hours) Steps to Protect provides training for school staff and youth service providers on protecting students and promoting violence prevention within a school or agency setting. This training has three components: 1) bullying prevention, 2) sexual harassment prevention and 3) dating violence prevention. |
