Because our Center operates with a minimal number of paid staff, volunteers provide many of our services. There are several opportunities for volunteer involvement: Crisis Line Advocates – provide crisis intervention and support to callers Hospital Advocates – provide crisis intervention and support to survivors at the hospital during a forensic medical exam Outreach Volunteers – provide education to the community about our Center’s services through tabling at health fairs, giving community presentations, and networking with other agencies Office Volunteers – assist with administrative office duties during work hours Special Event Volunteers – help our Center during special events, such as fundraisers and other community awareness events | STAR provides crucial services to our clients. Requirements to become a volunteer are as follows:
Due to the cost of training materials and meals provided to participants during training, a $30 fee for training is due on the first day of class. Scholarships and reduced rates are available to students and income sensitive individuals. |
